Ensure Optimal Functionality

Winter months come with harsh freeze overs and snow. Follow the steps below to help ensure your equipment is ready for the cold:

For exterior ATM’s and ITM’s:

●  Verify the top hat & safe heaters are turned on and working.

●  For ATMs in a kiosk, ensure heaters are on and working, also remove cash straps or receipts that have been left in the kiosk as they can be a fire risk.

●  Reduce the amount of time both the top hat and safe are open.

●  During the winter, if ice builds up on the screen or locks, do not use a scraping tool or harsh chemicals on the machine. A simple solution of water and vinegar works well.

●  Change safe door lock batteries to avoid a failure, as extreme cold temperatures can reduce the lifespan of the battery resulting in lock outs.

●   Work with your snowplow vendor to ensure they use caution around your terminals when plowing snow and applying salt.

The suggestions above will help your machines stay in peak operating condition through the winter!

IBA Convention Spotlight

NuSource team members Nathan Motley and Adam Griffin participated at the IBA show last month. The IBA Convention provides the largest gathering of financial professionals and industry suppliers in the state of Iowa.

NuSource’s booth offered a thrilling game of “Guess the amount!” in which visitors guess the exact amount of money in the pot. Mathew Mensing from Union State Bank in Greenfield, Iowa placed the winning guess and walked away with the cash!

Empowering Our Branches
“While it’s true that all technology eventually gets superseded by something newer, faster, and more advanced, ITMs solve far more than one challenge facing FIs today. In fact, interactive teller machines and other self-service tools can help jumpstart a financial institution’s branch transformation program, driving new delivery methods and informing their network strategy, including hub-and-spoke format strategy and deployment. ITMs also influence branch design since they’re able to reduce transactions at the teller line. This frees up space in retail design and site layout, empowering branches to become centers of consultation and connection versus places for transactions.

Looking ahead, ITMs will surely improve in speed, efficiency, and cost per transaction, undoubtedly automating the banking process even more. What appears to be just on the horizon is the concept of “ATM as a service” with manufacturers providing full outsourced management of ATMs and ITMs, which can lower capital expenditures even more. But in the near-term, the collective benefits and ability to bridge the best of digital and physical worlds make ITMs a powerful tool and a key component of a growth-oriented retail strategy. For consumers and institutions alike, ITMs can be a way to deliver on the “holy grail” balance of efficiency and experience that help future-proof successful banking relationships.”
