What do these announcements mean if you have NCR ATMs?

What does "end of support" entail, and why did NCR decide to discontinue this popular product and its software? When something is "sunsetted", it means the company has stopped making it and will end software development/support and hardware maintenance. This is typically done when the cost of sustaining outdated systems outweighs the advantages. In a nutshell, when that product (whether hardware or software) reaches a certain age and only has a small number of users, it becomes cumbersome and expensive to educate new staff on supporting outdated technology.

Failing to take action could result in problems down the road. Without manufacturer support, your business and service providers won't have access to assistance for bug fixes, error warnings, or other problems. Additionally, the product may not work with your newer technology, may attract the attention of criminals, or a system crash could result in the loss of crucial business data.
